Dear Seventh Grader: Welcome back to SMS! I hope that you had an enjoyable summer and that 2008-09 will be your best school year ever. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of some of the procedures for our seventh grade language arts class. General Classroom Rules 1. Be on time to class. Tardy to class three times will result in detention. 2. Make sure that you bring your book, binder, paper, writing utensil, and homework everyday. Remember no gel or colored pens on graded assignments!! 3. Take care of getting pencils sharpened and general housekeeping before class starts. 4. Show respect to everyone in the classroom. Without exception, do not talk when Mrs. Malloy is talking. The same goes for your classmates; when they are talking, you do not. Remain in your seat when others are talking. We will all return that same respect to you 5. If you have a question or a comment to make, raise your hand and wait to be called on. 6. Late assignments will be deducted 50%. Lunch detention will be assigned each day the work is not turned in, up to a maximum of 3 consecutive days. Details will be worked out between teacher and student. A letter regarding lunch detention was sent home with your child and mailed to your home. 7. All school policies will be followed in my room. 8. Behavior grade wise, each of you, right now. at the beginning of each grading period, have an “S” in conduct. It’s your job to maintain or increase that grade. 9. Headings on papers: Name, Date, Period, Assignment 10. If you have any questions or concerns, you may email me at jmalloy@salemschools.com Passes You will receive three passes each six weeks. You may use these passes if you need to leave the room (ask permission first). You MUST have your agenda with you at all times. Your passes are located in your agenda. Absence Policy When you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to see me upon returning to class. You will also need to check the make up folder for any worksheets or returned assignments that were handed back during your absence and check the assignment board. If the make up folder is empty, it is your responsibility to check the assignment board, ask a friend about missed assignments, and/or ask me for about missed work. However many days you were absent is the number of days you will have to turn in make up work. Please be aware – This is your responsibility!!
