MYANMAR HAS A POTENTIAL OF 108,000 MW
INSTALLED HYDROPOWER CAPACITY.
 MYANMAR ELECTRIC POWER ENTERPRISE (MEPE)
HAVE COMPLETED RELEVANT INVESTIGATIONS IN
SOME 92 SITES WITH A TOTAL INSTALLED CAPACITY
OF 46,000 MW.
 MEPE HAVE EXPLOITED ONLY 2,660 MW OF THE
INVESTIGATED HYDROPOWER.

RESUME DEVELOPMENT OF THE MONYWA COPPER
MINE IN JUNE 2010.
- COST OF EXPANSION PROJECT ESTIMATED TO BE US
$ 1 BILLION.
• TAGAUNGTAUNG NICKEL PROJECT
-TISCO OF CHINA AND CNMC OF CHINA SIGNED AN
AGREEMENT IN JULY 2010, WITH MINISTRY OF MINES
OF MYANMAR TO JOINTLY DEVELOP THE PROJECT.
THE PROJECT IS TO OPERATE FOR 20 YEARS STARTING
LATE 2011, AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF US$800
MILLION.
