Blackburn Diocese The Bishop’s Harvest Appeal 2014 ‘Speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves.’ Proverbs 31:8 Material written by Lisa Fenton Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education “We have been eating leaves as there is nothing else.” Kakhandy Kapolo Kakhandy and his Grandson Angola Dry Cracked Earth ‘There has been no rain.’ Illegal Fences Myanmar Our Harvest Prayer Lord, we remember the people of Angola, Myanmar and some of the poorest communities in the world whom we are supporting through our Harvest Appeal. We pray for the work of Christian Aid in Angola, helping to protect the land and water of the pastoralists who are threatened by wealthy landowners. We pray that with our help, more families may be able to graze their cattle in peace and have a regular supply of nutritious milk for their children. We pray for the work of the Mothers’ Union in Myanmar. We pray for the Mothers’ Union members as they cook and share out rice to needy families and teach communities how to improve their soil and grow better crops. May we gladly share what we have with those who are short of food so that they, with us, may share the joys of harvest. Amen
