We’re seeing improved results with Globalstar
Full operating capability (FOC) not expected
until later in 2013
NHQ has requested continued delay of billing
until FOC is achieved – awaiting decision from
Globalstar
Billing options expanded in CAPR 173-3 to
recoup mission costs

Goal is to place a camera kit with each aircraft on
a 5 year replacement cycle, pending funding
D90 or D200 kits capable of geo-tagging have
been provided for 54% of the fleet (291 aircraft)
with the latest distribution
AMODs will be sent to update old kits to make
sure they are identical – Garmin GPSes should be
transferred to ground teams once received
Team is working training material updates to be
ready before the summer
GIIEP Status


NHQ still has 5 complete kits from AFNORTH
117 custom configured Panasonic CF-31
Toughbooks were purchased at the end of FY12
that have now been configured for distribution
Replacing old CF-29s from SDIS primarily
 Computer has been designed to work with existing
Nikon D-90 Camera Kits primarily



External aircraft antenna testing will be done this
spring, once funding is available
Training materials are being updated to match CF31 deployment
Sensor RFI/RFP

An RFI for the next sensor system is currently in
process with vendors
Replies due by 19 March
 Team of CAP, USAF, and DHS staff will review
inputs received to determine best options
 Expectation is for scalable systems that CAP can build
upon over the life of the aircraft
 Must be a turn-key package option with training to
meet the needs of CAP and our primary customers


DHS funding may be available for demo system(s)
Sensor RFI/RFP



RFP will be accomplished this spring in order to
establish contracts as necessary
Expect to purchase systems in conjunction with
aircraft procurements, though not restricted
should other funding sources be available
Plan is for 20 or more systems to get to 2 per
FEMA Region or more, but funding will drive
how quickly CAP can purchase systems
