YEAR 10 PERFUME BRIEF
Sustainable Packaging
Situation

You have the opportunity to create a new fragrance
to market to teenagers and young adults.
Brief


Create a perfume brand and packaging that will
appeal to you peers.
Specifications: This packaging must be
environmentally conscientious and you must identify
who you are marketing the product to.
What will we learn by doing this
project?











How to sketch and combine shapes in ISOMETRIC
How to draw OBLIQUE shapes
Recognise the benefit of different pictorial methods
How to RENDER 3D objects to create different surface effects.
What materials could be used to make an eco friendly product
The design process
How to make 3D objects in PTC
How to make ORTHOGRAPHIC drawings to send to a manufacturer
How to turn 3D objects into Nets (surface development)
How to create VECTOR graphics that reflect your intended market.
And lots of other things!!!
What will we be doing in this project?
Following the DESIGN PROCESS
BRIEF: Generate your own design brief identifying your target
market
RESEARCH : Collect images of existing products and
packaging and reflect on these in your INSPIRATION books
under PRODUCT DESIGN
During the process you will also need to research sustainable
materials that you could make your bottle and packaging
from.
What will we be doing in this project?






CONCEPT SKETCHES: Making 2D and 3D sketches of possible bottle
shapes. Make annotations about your design ideas and possible alterations.
DEVELOPMENT: Develop your best concept in PTC
EVALUATION: Evaluate your final product and see if it fulfils the brief you
set.
STEP 2. Making your packaging using surface development drawings and
making mock ups from cardboard.
STEP 3. Making the graphics for your bottle and company following the
same design process using Corel Draw and Corel Photopaint.
Keep the look of your graphics in mind and collect inspiration in the Graphic
Design section of your inspiration book throughout the project.




Write your Brief identifying your target market
Learn how to sketch ISOMETRIC shapes
Homework: Research images of perfume other cosmetics
packaging and other relevant imagery that will appeal to
your target market. Collect samples of boxes for cosmetic
products and stick these into your inspiration books.




Sketching 2D shapes and converting these to OBLIQUE
and ISOMETRIC pictorials
Sketching Circles in OBLIQUE and ISOMETRIC pictorials
Homework: Research images of perfume other cosmetics
packaging and other relevant imagery that will appeal to
your target market. Collect samples of boxes for cosmetic
products and stick these into your inspiration books.
