At the end of an event nod your head slightly, pause your signing, then raise your head to signal the beginning of the next event. SignWriting here Unit 13 Dependent or “when” clauses • This transition happens at the beginning of a sentence and explains when an event happened. This is a time/topic-comment structure, so the eyebrows raise and the head nods downward for the “when” portion, then the eyebrows flatten and head raises during the event explanation. Use this transition to tell about the following: 1. Age (When I was 5, I started school.) 2. Preceding event (After graduation, I started working) 3. Year of event (In 1985, he passed away) Unit 13 Time signs indicating a period of time • Use NMS with the later-on sign to show the relative amount of time passed. Later-on, some-time-later Short time later Medium time later Unit 13 Long time later Up-until-now, since Unit 13 Before-event Unit 13 Unit 13 Unit 13 Unit 13 Unit 13 Unit 13 Unit 13 Unit 13 Show of Hands – p. 2 Unit 13 It’s A Small World – p.2
