Solute- the minor component in a solution, dissolved in the solvent. Example: powdered iced
tea mix
Solution- a liquid mixture in which the minor component (the solute) is uniformly distributed
within the major component (the solvent).
Concentration- means how many particles there are in a given volume.
Concentration gradient- refers to the gradual change in the concentration of solutes in a
solution as a function of distance through a solution.
Osmosis- the movement of water through a plasma membrane from a region of
low solute concentration to a region of high concentration.
Equilibriu m- a state in which opposing forces or influences are balanced.
