GULAYAN SA PAARALAN PROGRAM (GPP)

III. Project Rationale:
The Department of Education required every school to put up a productive ad
successful vegetable garden under the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program. GPP is also in
line with the DepEd Memorandum No. 223 series of 2016, entitled “Strengthening the
implementation of the GULAYAN SA PAARALAN PROGRAM (GPP)”. This program
is a part of the national effort to ensure the development and nutrition among Filipino
students by providing the needed vegetables for school feeding program and to ensure
the quality of education by surpassing the malnutrition among students. It also aims to
boost the awareness of the students on the significance of growing vegetables.
One of the thrust of the Department of Education (DepEd) is to strengthen and
intensify the implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Project (GPP) in all public
elementary and secondary schools to serve as food basket and have a ready source
of vegetable for the school supplementary feeding program. according to the report of
the Nutrition and Health Council, hunger and malnutrition are two main problems that
really affect 19% or 3,268,000 families out of the 17, 400,000 families in the country
due to lack of food to eat or money to buy food. Respectively in time of pandemic due
to Covid-19, many people lost their jobs and had limited mobility.
Meanwhile, our government is now strengthening the implementation of schoolcommunity food production under this program, which shall be tied-up with other
concerned agencies.
From these Tiaong National High School is in dire need of manpower to sustain
the Gulayan sa Paaralan Project. Then the coordinator, administrator and stakeholder
of the school will be working hand to hand to sustain the needs of SBFP recipients
from Grade 7 to Grade 12.
IV. Project Objectives:
1. Improved vegetable gardens by grade level.
2. Purchased good variety of vegetable seeds.
3. Put up trellises for perennial vine plants.
4. Taking care of the vegetables/plants
5. Harvested good quality vegetables and having good sales for the sustainability of
Gulayan sa Paaralan.

V. Project Description:
The LGU, stakeholders, school facility in- charge, all teachers of Tiaong
NHS and parents shall hand and hand, share responsibility in the construction and
management of Gulayan sa Paaralan with the full support and guidance of School
Principal, Agriculture Coordinator and Faculty Officers of Tiaong NHS. The Gulayan
sa Paaralan of Tiaong National High School gives or sustain the nutrition of
malnourished students and to improve the students’ skills in the field of agriculture.
VI. Project Duration: November 2021- July 2022
VII. Target Beneficiaries:
All learners who are under severely wasted in their BMI and who are part of School
Based Feeding Program
VIII. Proposed Budget: P 20, 000.00
IX. Monitoring and Evaluation
The monitoring and evaluation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan will be done by the
GPTA Officers, LGU, All Subject Coordinators, SHS Focal Person and Principal. The
Monitoring of Gulayan sa Paaralan will be done during and after the implementation.
The evaluation will be done at the end of the implementation of the project and after
harvesting the vegetables. Submitted documents like quantity of harvested
vegetables, documentation, accomplishment, and financial report is the success
indicator of the project.
