the implementation of the GULAYAN SA PAARALAN PROGRAM (GPP)”. This
program is a part of the national effort to ensure the development and nutrition
among Filipino students by providing the needed vegetables for school feeding
program and to ensure the quality of education by surpassing the malnutrition among
students. It also aims to boost the awareness of the students on the significance of
growing vegetables.
The Gulayan sa Paaralan of Manito National High School is the 2 in 1 project
of JHS and SHS. It gives or sustain the nutrition of malnourished students and to
improve the students’ skills in the field of agriculture, particularly those who are
studying Agricultural Crop Production/Horticulture. By implementing the Gulayan sa
Paaralan it serves as the Laboratory Facilities, it is beneficial to Agri. Crop
Production Students and other related specialization in Grade 7-10 students.
Students could use their actual practice of the Basic, Common and Core
Competencies in preparation for their NC II assessment. It is viewed as one of
practical and empirical ways of teaching and engaging the students in activities- like
land preparation, sowing of small seeds in a seed box/bed and planting direct seeds
in garden plots, maintenance, pest control and harvesting. To have a successful
implementation of this program it prescribes the participation and involvement of
students, parents and other members of the community.
