PROJECT PROPOSAL Project Title: Gulayan sa Paaralan Program Target Date of Implementation: March -October 2021 Implementing Unit: Manito NHS Rationale The Department of Education required every school to put up a productive ad successful vegetable garden under the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program. GPP is also inline with the DepEd Memorandum No. 223 series of 2016, entitled “Strengthening the implementation of the GULAYAN SA PAARALAN PROGRAM (GPP)”. This program is a part of the national effort to ensure the development and nutrition among Filipino students by providing the needed vegetables for school feeding program and to ensure the quality of education by surpassing the malnutrition among students. It also aims to boost the awareness of the students on the significance of growing vegetables. The Gulayan sa Paaralan of Manito National High School is the 2 in 1 project of JHS and SHS. It gives or sustain the nutrition of malnourished students and to improve the students’ skills in the field of agriculture, particularly those who are studying Agricultural Crop Production/Horticulture. By implementing the Gulayan sa Paaralan it serves as the Laboratory Facilities, it is beneficial to Agri. Crop Production Students and other related specialization in Grade 7-10 students. Students could use their actual practice of the Basic, Common and Core Competencies in preparation for their NC II assessment. It is viewed as one of practical and empirical ways of teaching and engaging the students in activities- like land preparation, sowing of small seeds in a seed box/bed and planting direct seeds in garden plots, maintenance, pest control and harvesting. To have a successful implementation of this program it prescribes the participation and involvement of students, parents and other members of the community. V. Objectives: Terminal Objective Generally, this project aims to ensure the quality of education by surpassing the malnutrition among MNHS students. To strengthen the Department of Education’s mission to provide quality education by providing laboratory facilities to the students taking Agri. Crop Production through collaborative efforts of its stakeholders. Enabling Objective: a. b. c. d. Establish Gulayan sa Paaralan as Laboratory Facility. Maintain school garden as vegetable sources to sustain school feeding. To practice and develop students in planting vegetables. Provide a sense of responsibility to the students and teacher incharge in maintaining the said facility e. Actively engage and share responsibility to the stakeholders in the construction and management of the facility VI. Target Beneficiaries The project shall be beneficial to the following stakeholders: A. Manito NHS – Provide Manito National High School a well equip agricultural crop production laboratory facility. B. Agri-Crop Production Students – The implementation of Gulayan sa Paaralan projects the students can actually have a hands-on activity in vegetable production and start learning and gaining skills in vegetable gardening. C. Other MNHS Students The harvested vegetable will sustain the nutrition of malnourished students. Encourage and motivate students in vegetable gardening and helps them to realize the importance of vegetable production. Invites other students to choose Agricultural Crop Production/Horticulture as their subject course in TLE and bring them a decision to choose Agricultural Crop Production TVL track in SHS. D. Teachers - This facility will also aid and provide ease to the teachers in the whole study course in teaching agricultural crop production students. E. Parents – Adopt the good practices of the students and teachers in planting vegetables to bring the practices at home or their community. VII. Project Description The LGU (SEF), school facility in- charge, agri. crop production/horticulture teachers and parents shall hand and hand, share responsibility in the construction and management of Gulayan sa Paaralan with the full support and guidance of TLE/TVL Department Chairman, Senior High School Coordinator and School Principal and Faculty of Manito National High School. The Gulayan sa Paaralan of Manito National High School gives or sustain the nutrition of malnourished students and to improve the students’ skills in the field of agriculture, particularly those who are studying Agricultural Crop Production/Horticulture. B. Materials The materials needed for the implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan are the construction materials needed in perimeter fence, bamboo split and post for trellis for vine vegetables, rice hull, seeds, organic fertilizers and garden tools. XI. Monitoring and Evaluation The monitoring and evaluation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan will be done by the GPP Coordinators, Agri- Crop Production Teacher, TVL Subject Chairman, SHS Coordinator and Principal. The Monitoring of Gulayan sa Paaralan will be done during and after the implementation. The evaluation will be done at the end of the implementation of the project and after harvesting the vegetables. Submitted documents like quantity of harvested vegetables, documentation, accomplishment and financial report is the success indicator of the project. XII.
