Some education systems make students focus on certain subjects at the age of 15, while
othersrequire students to study a wide range of subjects until they leave school. What are
the benefits ofeach system? Which is better?
Nowadays, some people claim that students should concentrate on some subjects when
they are 15 years old whereas others are in favor suggest that teenagers should attend
many classes before leaving school. In my opinion, the education system that concentrates
on a few subjects brings much greater benefits.
To begin with, students who learn multiple subjects may get some advantages. Firstly,
students have the chance to acquire extensive knowledge for comprehensive personal
development. As a consequence, they are able to solve problems in various fields such as
mathematics and literature. Furthermore, learning various subjects until high-school
graduation helps students to get higher positions as they apply for jobs. For example, in
multinational companies, a person having who has lots of skills may be offered a higher
salary job than one who is good at an only one aspect of the job.
On the other hand, focusing on a smaller range of subjects is really better for students at
the age of 15. If they teenagers are allowed to choose their favorite subjects, teenagers
they may be more interested in learning them, which makes them pay more attention and
be taught deeper knowledge on these fields. Therefore, their score will be improved and
they can be recruited for suitable jobs in the future. In addition, with fewer subjects to
study, teenagers can have more free time for other activities. This allows them to reduce
stress after hard-working study hours and boost their physical and mental health. If
students have to study much more subjects, they might be exhausted and their
productivity will be adversely affected.
In conclusion, I think although learning a wider range of subjects may be helpful, in my
view, students will derive more benefits from a specialized education system because of
the considerable advantages it offers. [derive sth from sth]
