I would like to raise an important issue: the degradation of the linguistic skill of teenagers of our time. The problems of declining culture of speech in our country, the tendency to the spread of jargon and colloquialism are relevant. As most people know, nowadays teenagers use in their everyday life a large number of non-normative variants of different types, improper and often meaningless use of foreign words, there is a spread of slang and various abbreviations of words. Linguists found that the vocabulary of teenagers is half the size of that for those aged 25 to 34. The youngsters are also prone to repetition. Their 20 most frequent words account for nearly a third of all those that they use. Social media play a big impact on this. Nowadays, teenagers do not watch news, don’t read artic for aiming knowledge from different science sources, reading books is now less popular among teens. And all of this have a big impact on communication and linguistic skills. Teenagers show a lack of discrimination in when and how they use informal language. They seem not to know when it is and when it is not appropriate to be informal. In a result, I want to recommend a solving for this problem. Teenagers should minimise their time that they spend by watching funny videos and playing games, that should ones a day watch shows or listen podcasts, that can help improve vocabulary. Moreover, it would be better for them to train their brain and make it more plastic to easier and faster get new information.
