WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A
TYPHOON HAS ENTERED THE
PAR?
It means it already has the capability to landfall on
certain areas inside the PAR. When a typhoon is
outside the PAR it has an international name. When
it enters the PAR, our weather agency PAG-ASA
names the typhoon based on local name as a sign
that the weather system enters the country's PAR
PHILIPPINE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
PAGASA starts monitoring tropical cyclones even
before they enter the Philippine Area of
Responsibility (PAR). But everything shifts into
high gear when the weather disturbance is
already inside the PAR. The PAR includes a big
area east of the Philippines because this is where
most tropical cyclones come from.
