Resolution No. 26 A Resolution encouraging Austin Peay State University’s Student Government Association to consider co-sponsoring an annual public safety (Public Safety 101) event with the APSU campus police. WHEREAS, SGA exists "to serve as the voice of the students, and to make sure their thoughts and needs are heard and addressed to increase their quality of life”. WHEREAS, many APSU students do not have a background in public safety, and this would encourage students to become educated for emergency scenarios (tornados, fires, stolen property, damaged property, walking safely to your dorm, calling the APSU police escort service, reporting a crime, etc.) WHEREAS, this idea would allow students the opportunity to gain knowledge on how to be the most aware and knowledgeable of who to contact and what to do should they arise in a confrontational situation on APSU’s campus. WHEREAS, even though APSU is a safe campus, the information learned through this public safety seminar will not only apply to on campus situations but those one may encounter in the future. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED ON THIS 21ST DAY OF APRIL BY THE 64TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE AUSTIN PEAY STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION THAT: Section 1: Upon passage of this Resolution, the Student Government Association will annually co-sponsor with the Austin Peay State University Police Department at least one public safety class open and free to APSU students, faculty and the Clarksville community per year. _______________________ Sponsoring Senator _______________________ Sponsoring Senator _______________________ SGA President _______________________ SGA Chief Justice _______________________ Date
