Litmus Test
Ethics Litmus Test – Decision-Making Model
When you are uncertain about taking an action ask yourself these
“litmus test” questions:
1. Does the action make sense to you, regardless of what others say?
2. Would you want others to take the same action in this situation?
3. Where will it lead? How will the action affect others? What will it do
for you?
4. Will you think well of yourself when you look back at what you’ve
done?
5. If the problem were faced by a particular person you admire, how
would s/he handle it?
6. Would you want your family and friends to be aware of your action?
