JOSE T. QUIBOLOY SR. NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GRADE XI- PHYSICAL SCIENCES I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the 60 minutes discussion, the students will be able to: A. assess the usage and active ingredient(s) of cleaning products used at home using realia through observation; B. develop the value of teamwork, skepticism, and humility to evidence by group activity, and; C. discover the chemical properties, acidity and basicity of chemical agents using the five senses and litmus paper in a group experimentation. II. SUBJECT MATTER A. Topic: The Properties and mode of action of the following consumer products: A. CLEANING MATERIALS/AGENTS/PRODUCTS B. References: III. Daily Routine - The teacher will instruct the students to go back to their respective seats, ask them to align their chairs and pick-up pieces of papers. 2. Prayer - The teacher will ask somebody to lead the prayer and greet the students. 3. Checking of Attendance - The teacher will check the attendance of the students. 4. Review - The teacher will ask the following questions to recall the previous lesson about chemical change. What is a chemical change? What are the examples of chemical change? How will you identify if it is a chemical change? Why there is a chemical change? 5. Motivation - The teacher will divide the class into 9 groups and give specific and observe the chemical agents/products. The students fill up the usage and active ingredients and refer to the following sheet below: Group Number: ____________ Members: _______________________ _______________________ _______________________ _______________________ CHEMICAL AGENT/PRODUCT NAME: USAGE/USES: ACTIVE INGREDIENT(S): Guide Questions What is the usage of your specific chemical agents? What are the active ingredients shown in the activity? Why are we using chemical agents at home? B. Developmental Activities 1. Presentation of the Topic - The teacher will present the topic through PowerPoint presentation. 2. Activity 1 - The teacher will conduct an activity which is entitled “GUESS and ILLUSTRATE IT” - The teacher will show illustrations about chemical agents and ask them to identify what type of chemical product being shown. 3. Analysis The teacher will ask the following question to the students. Are you using chemical agents in your day-to-day life? Why? What is the significance of chemical agents in our life today especially during this pandemic? In what way, chemical agents can help human being to lessen the spread of COVID 19? C. Concluding Activities 1. Abstraction/ Generalization Students will answer this orally. 2. Application - After the discussion, the teacher will provide assessment though a group experiment. The teacher instructs the students to perform the experiment from the experiment sheet. Below is the experiment sheets. - The teacher will let the students present their works in front that will be graded using rubrics. Rubrics 3. Values Integration - - The teacher will ask the students to the following questions: What values are being developed in this activity? What strategies you used during the activity? Is it important? The teacher will share his insight the importance of teamwork, skepticism, and humility to evidence in conducting group activity and group experimentation. 4. Evaluation - The teacher will let the students get ¼ sheet of paper for an essay writing. TOPIC: How is significance and relevance the use of chemical agents/products this day (Pandemic time)? The students will refer to the criteria below: 5. Agreement/Assignment - The teacher will assign students to research about the hazards and do and don’ts of using the chemical agents/products.
