3C’s Monday Memo
February 1, 2016
Math:
This week, students will continue to learn
about probability. The unit test will be on
Thursday.
4 students have reached 100% math fact
fluency on REFLEX! I have written your
student’s progress % in the planner today. I
am recommending some students to use the
site every night at home.
Memorizing math facts is very important in
3rd grade. REFLEX is available at home, 7
days a week.
Social Studies: Students will be working on
an alternative social studies assessment
(takes the place of SOL) over the Mali on
Monday and Tuesday. This is not graded and
used for school reflection. The next unit is
natural resources – reusable, renewable, and
nonrenewable.
Reading:
Final DRAs must be completed this week.
Reading logs are due Thursday.
Please make sure your child is carefully
reading Raz Kids and looking for the
answers.. It is a good idea to go over the
missed questions one on one to help prepare
for the SOL test.
.
Word Study
2nd week of words. Choice on Tuesday and
practice test Wednesday. Test on Thursday,
February 4th.
Writer’s Workshop:
The class newspaper turned out great. I hope
your child brought home his/her copy to
share with you. I plan to start another issue
soon. This week, students will work on an
autobiography to help prepare for the famous
person report coming next. That report will
later be used for the Wax Museum speech
and presentation.
Please discuss skills that your child misses
on Daily Language sheets to help them apply
it to their own writing.
Announcements:
PE is on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Please have your child wear gym shoes on
those days. We are having problems with the
changing of shoes.
Thanks for working with me to make sure the
students have nutritional snacks. Thanks for
signing the planner daily and helping with
homework as well!
If you have read this memo, print out a copy
and sign for your child. He/she will receive
an extra sticker for good behavior chart!!
Due Tuesday morning.
Have a great week! Mrs. Feddersen
