UNDERSTANDING GOALS (CONCEPTS): Students will understand: How the new states were created in the west and the role the new states played in the creation of america and the role they played in the new debate on Sectionalism and how these new states are adding to the new pressure of slave verse free states. the new states have to make a decision to keep the balance in congress and how to preserve the union and maintain peace.. and how all of the above led to the war and the difficult task to the rebuilding of the United States after the Civil War. The new presidents do not have control of the big businesses and a new era forms through corruption and greed. This Gilded Age sets the scene for politcal bosses, and spoils system unlike that of Jackson… one that is more detailed and politically corrupt!!!
