Distinguished Alumni Presentation The Department of Computer Science is thrilled to celebrate the immense accomplishments of James Gosling, BSc ‘77, LLD ’99, in a lively public lecture. This is a unique opportunity to meet one of the University of Calgary’s legendary alumni — the man who invented the Java programming language and who in 2007 received the Order of Canada. Today, one of the planet’s leading computer scientists continues to work at Liquid Robotics where he develops robots that travel to sea in order to gather atmospheric data and conduct research. Join James Gosling, our very own modern-day inventor, and the Department of Computer Science for a very special evening.
