Come network and reminisce the days of yore with your former classmates from Prof. Mike
Williams’ courses. Mingle over refreshments during the reception and then join Mike as he regales
us with tales of the pre-tablet pre-cell phone pre-connected world of the past in his presentation
entitled:
What to Do if You Don't Have a Computer
Prof. Mike Williams
Before the modern computer was created there was still a need for substantial amounts of
calculation. This talk will be a survey of the devices and methods that people used. Some
examples will be trivial while others were the result of brilliant minds trying to solve problems in
both military and industrial situations. Almost all of them have been forgotten by computer
scientists.
