WELCOME/APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The meeting came to order at approximately 5:45pm in Campus Center, Room 4. Minutes from
May 21, 2012 meeting was reviewed by Edward with the following comments:
 10 yes
 The September meeting is to be pushed back to September 24 and will be held in the new
Center for Math and Science building.
 The minutes were written on notes taken from Tara Ward, Administrative Aide with Los
Angeles Mission College as the tape recorder failed to record.
REPORT FROM GSE:
CMS building on the East Campus is almost finished and the users will be moving in August.
1. Proposition A/AA:

Moratorium Projects

There has been a consensus on the central energy plant and LAMC is free to
move forward with the project.

The entire project has an estimated cost of $7 million

The RFP for construction will end by September 2012, but there are few
companies that construct central energy plants

There will be deferred funds available for maintenance and replacement
cartridges
 It was also noted with the Central Energy Plant, LAMC can be the hub
for emergency operations for the Sylmar area
 Once the central plant is completed a media event will be held for the
community since the plant will be the first of its kind in the area

Dr. Perez thanked Danny and George for their continued work on getting an
agreement between DWP and District office
 Projects on Moratorium Released

Storm water, utility interconnection between the HFAC and CMS building
overlaps with fire access roads as well as ADA compliance completion areas.

Crosswalks on Hubbard will be built in two phases:
 B-permit applications must be filed
 The original architect left FTR
 FTR were the original contracting company for the crosswalks
 District office needs to create a new contract with the original design
architect

2. Measure J:

Swing Space
 Finalization phase: modulars will be moved to begin the Student Services
building.
 District Office analyzes space utilization before the Student Services
building can be built
 This is based on student attendance in the present not on future
projections

Don Neal requested that Gateway develop a walkway that connects the park to
the LAMC main campus.
3. MEDIA ARTS:
 Kemp Brothers are having a second look at the building, but they are up to speed
with the issues with the steel construction and the bolts

The building is tied to the central energy plant and the plant needs to be up and
running before the media arts building can open

A GSE staff explained that the Dashboard (financial) report is
supplemented with the campus projects’ construction monthly report
which lists the status of each project for the previous month.
REPORT FROM COLLEGE PRESIDENT:
 Student Services Building is off the moratorium list
 Various options on the table for the Athletic fields

Possible agreement with LA County Parks and Recreation to rent out the soccer
field

SIBL baseball fields – SIBL owners and LAMC are meeting to discuss options
LAMC may have in using the fields.

Possible satellite location may be available at the First Lutheran High School on
Glenoaks and Colbalt.
 Mission is expected to hold a Center for Math and Science grand opening sometime in
October 2012
 The ASO and Academic Senate are having Brown Act training and the CCOC has been
advised to be sure to post the CCOC agenda 72 hours in advance.
