AP Statistics Ms. Weaver Course Description AP statistics is a course in which students learn the fundamental principles of probability and statistics and apply these to data analysis. Students are expected to utilize graphing calculators throughout the year and take the AP Exam at the end of the year. Materials Needed Organized notebook with plenty of paper Pencils Preferred Colored pencils or markers helpful Graph paper (small amount) helpful Calculator TI-83/84 or Casio Prizm Textbook (can be left at home for HW & reference) Grading Procedure AP Stats Major Tests 60%____ Tests given at the end of each unit. Quizzes 15%___ Announced and unannounced. Homework 5 %____ Assigned each day and checked daily. You are responsible for completing all problems and asking questions when necessary. Partial credit given. No Work, No Credit!!! Labs 5 %____ Porfolios 5% Each nine-weeks will have a portfolio. It is due on the day of your nineweeks exam. You are to use 3” x 5” notecards and condense each unit onto one card Exams 10%___ Cumulative and given at the end of each nine weeks. This will change 4th nine weeks to be a straight average of AP multiple choice tests and free response tests. Make-up Work All missed tests and quizzes should be made up before the next unit test. It is YOUR responsibility to set up a time to do it. If you do not make up the work, then it will be counted as a zero. In addition, if you need extra help, please see me immediately. If you forget your materials, you will be given one warning. After that, you will get detention for each time you do not have your materials. You may sharpen your pencils during class without asking as long as you do it quietly and without disturbing others. Only one person may be at the pencil sharpener at a time. Be seated and ready when the tardy bell rings. Have your materials and homework out on your desk. There will usually be an assignment on the board. Begin it promptly. You must be responsible for ALL of your own actions. You are responsible for assignments missed. Help is available after school. Follow all school rules. Remember, you must always wear your ID. Also, no gum. This is a school rule that we all must follow. All students will respect everyone and everything! This rule covers all other rules. Remember when I am talking, you do not talk. Do not disrupt others while they are doing their work. Only talk to others if I give you permission and only about math. Consequences 1. 2. 3. To be counted present, you may not miss more than 30 minutes of the class. Tardies are not acceptable. (10 tardies/early dismissals = 1 ISS Day) Restroom Policy: The only bathroom passes given are for emergencies. Please go to the restroom or get water between classes or during lunch. Progress Reports: These will be available online. Expectations: The skills attained in this course are necessary in order to fulfill the requirements for the AP exam.
