Phase I of the Usable Materials Center (UMC) in the works The equipment and software (DocSoft) has been delivered for video captioning Hoping to have initial phases in place January CDAD would like a tour when ready IV. Jim Tuck with the City’s Pedestrian Advisory Committee invited CDAD to collaborate with them during Flagstaff Walks week. The City plans an Accessibility Audit during this week Since NAU4ALL and Tash had mentioned a shared event for this year, he wanted to ask if they would like to collaborate on this. The dates of September 26th and 27th were both discussed with preference for the 27th perhaps around 3:00 PM There will be planning meetings and Jim will invite us He would like some volunteers from CDAD to help V. Priscilla Mills raised the question of campus parking CDAD Members – when possible remind NAU stakeholders to: o Preserve Accessible Parking at the core of campus With all the current construction and an effort for more perimeter and garage parking, Accessible Parking at the core of campus is at risk of being forgotten or overlooked. o Perimeter parking makes individual routes longer VI. 2015 will be the 25th Anniversary of the ADA The Legacy Project is looking for groups to sponsor events to get the word out. Yes. o Possible events – October is Disability Awareness Month See if the Mall would like to display the Disability History posters during October. (Matt) o Have we followed up with David Camacho regarding a second set of the posters? (Jamie) o Remove from the posters “Disability Awareness Month” so that they can be used year round. o Update for years 2011-present Possible Movie Event o Title: “The Sessions” o Priscilla will check with the Library to see if they have it. Flagstaff City Banquet is on October 12th o What is the status of CDAD’s reply to the Provost’s Letter? The CDAD Executive Committee will find a time to meet and draft a letter. Matt will coordinate a meeting time. VII. Update on Campus Map (Lauren) In a recent update, the Campus Map lost most of its accessibility elements. There is an effort in the works that could bring ITS and Geography to the same table to discuss student internships that could provide a much more useful Campus Map alternative. CDAD would like to invite Matt Tafoya, a graduate student, who presented at the GeoDesign Studio Open House to discuss his work mapping NAU buildings at Facility Services and see how that could tie into the internship possibility. Construction Updates There are lots of construction projects: o Aquatic Center, Tennis courts and new pool o The Suites Expansion o Health & Science Building Other Business IX.
