Classroom Activity Classroom Environment Classroom Expectations Feedback & Evaluation Homework & Out-of-Classroom Learning Experiences Briefly describe the activity/strategy, providing enough detail so that a colleague can replicate the activity/strategy. Introduction Students participate in an Assignment Marathorn (MA), a unique opportunity, dedicate to assist students with assignment completion. One week before midterms an assignment marathorn is held for students who are either already working on an assignment and discover the assignment is too diffuculty to continue without assistance, or received a low score and need to improve the score. Also during this time students are allowed to take anvantage of the late assignment coupon. 2. Set-up & Supplies The above mention assignment, pencil or pen and a willingness to follow through. 3. Directions Students are instucted to identify the above mentioned assignment; based on the assignment, students are place in same assignment group. Only students who have earned an "A" on the assignment qualify to oversee a same assignment group, and is assigned as a Team Manager. The team master announce the assignment and students are formed in groups. The student receives assistance from their peers as I walk around the classroom in an observation mode. The instructor provides each student in each group with a class handout, instruction pernient to the assignments at hand. The instructor provides addional instrictions when needed. What worked well? The peer serving as a team manager, served to be a success. Using one class seesion for an assignment marathorn was a positive command for student acheivement in the area of attendance; improved student communication with the instuctor; in the way of student took chances asking detailed question about future assignments. It appeared that the students were more dedicated to the future assignments. What would you change? I would impliment the assignment marathorn sooner in the semester. For example, with a sixteen-week class, I would introduce the (MA) during the sixth week; instead, of the eighth week. Would you use the activity/strategy again? Why or why not? Yes. the (MA) served as a support for the students. Student made comments such as the (MA) gave the confidence that they could complete the class with a postitive grade. Please describe any student learning and/or changes that you observed after the implementation of the activity/strategy. The students began to communicate with me about future assignment for the class. Student related the (MA) made them feel positive about their acheivement for the upcoming Midterm. Students appeared releived to get understanding on assignments that would assist them with the midterm.
