Minutes of the College Council Meeting of October 1, 2001
Present: Dr. Fallo, Dr. Hata, Mr. D’Amico, Dr. Caldwell, Ms. Ely, Dr. Simon, Ms.
Caldwell, Ms. Apple, and Mr. Marston.
TEAM REPORTS
El Camino Classified Employees - Ms. Luukia Smith
A general meeting was held for day employees on Thursday, September 27th, 73 employees
were in attendance. A general meeting was held for night employees on Friday, September
28th, 21 employees were in attendance.
Associated Students Organization – Ms. Jennifer Apple
Parking and Fund Raising Committees are being formed. The ASO is proposing a $1
student representation fee that will go for student lobbying, conferences, etc.
President Fallo
The College Council will meet with the Accreditation Steering Committee during its
October 15, 2001 meeting. Council members are requested to review attached materials
prior to that meeting.
President Fallo attended the Radiological Technical Graduation and Child Development
Center Open House on Friday, September 28th. The College Council will try and schedule
a meeting at the Child Development Center in the future; President Fallo commented on the
organized appearance of the center.
Mr. Mulrooney has produced an advisory on persons being called for reservist’s duty. It is
important that these incidents are reported immediately to ensure proper procedures are
followed in a timely manner.
The October 8, 2001 Board Agenda will include a recommendation to the Board for an
informational survey to determine how the El Camino Community College District is
perceived by voters.
Academic Senate - Mr. Doug Marston
Items on the October 2, 2002 Academic Senate agenda include Curriculum and Program
Review and Approval and first reading of College Curriculum Committee Bylaws. Mr.
Marston will also include the recommendation for an informational survey in the agenda.
Student and Community Advancement - Dr. Patricia Caldwell
The Muslim Club Organization students feel they have been supported well by the College.
They will have an informational table in the quad Tuesday, October 02, 2001 to answer
questions about Islam.
Operations & Logistics – Donna Manno
Ms. Manno decided that each College Council member should review the statements made
during the August 27, 2001 meeting. Please decide which statements make sense, which do
not, and whether there is knowledge of a certain issue already being addressed. Please write
down comments to share with the rest of the committee. The next step will be to prioritize
the topics. Then the committee can make a work plan to focus on one or two items for
completion throughout the year.
