Minutes of the College Council Meeting of July 29, 2002
Present: Dr. Caldwell, Ms. Ely, Dr. Fallo, Mr. Hanson, Dr. Hata, Ms. Pickens, Dr. Simon,
Ms Smith, and Ms. Stewart.
Power Outage
The power will be out in some areas of the Administration building until Tuesday, July 30,
2002 at 12:00 PM. President Fallo had a discussion with the council on how to handle this
situation. Employees affected will be released today and will return Tuesday at 8:00 AM
for further instruction.
Planning and Budgeting Committee
The first meeting will be held August 1, 2002. All new members will be invited.
Hiring Freeze
The positions being authorized for release at this time are Director of EOP&S/CalWorks
and Dean of Mathematical Sciences. All other positions are on hold until the release of the
State budget. The time frame for the State budget is from August 5-August 31, 2002.
TEAM REPORTS
Academic Senate – Ms. Julie Stewart
Faculty members would like to have voter registration forms to give to students. We will be
having a voter registration drive on campus up until the election. Tables will be set up on
campus. Renee Dorn has voter registration forms.
Student and Community Advancement - Dr. Patricia Caldwell
The National Guard has funding available to partner with colleges and universities to fund
labs and upkeep of labs for teleconferencing centers and distance education. A meeting is
scheduled at the Inglewood Center for Tuesday, July 30, 2002.
El Camino Classified Employees - Ms. Luukia Smith
There will be a Grievance Officer training next week to train 5 more officers. Two night
custodians will be participating.
