Student Development/ASO/ICC/AGS
ASO
 ASO has started holding Mobile Office Hours. In the past they have had office hours in the Activities
Center but not many students were stopping by for information. They decided that a more effective
way to outreach to students is to take their office hours outside to the Library Lawn and other places
around campus.
 ASO will be appointing a new Director of Finance that will attend PBC and ASB meetings.
ICC
 Homecoming was a success. Many students attended and Faizan Mehmood & Dhanu Prathap were
crowned Homecoming King and Queen.
 This Friday ICC will be holding their first Club Officer Retreat. They will be offering different workshops
to help clubs be more organized and successful.
SOCIAL JUSTICE PROGRAM
 A student coalition has been formed that meets once a month in the Activities Center. The purpose is to
gather leaders from different student organizations on campus to share ideas and support activities
that are happening on campus that relate to social justice.
COMMENCEMENT
 The Student Development office is waiting to see were commencement will be held this year: Soccer
Field, Lot L, or Marsee Auditorium.
 A detailed calendar/to-do list has been created for the new May date.
Outreach and School Relations

The OASR office would like to introduce and welcome back Bree Bond who was hired in October to
assist in Outreach and implementation of SB 1456. Bree comes back to ECC after graduating from UC
Davis. While attending El Camino College, Bree served as Lead Student Ambassador for nearly 2 years.

OASR’s SB 1456 focus is on securing test dates for assessment with our feeder schools. To date, there
are approximately 10 test sessions scheduled with local high schools beginning in December.

Out-of-state recruitment has begun. El Camino College was or will be represented at college fairs in
Phoenix, Las Vegas, Washington DC, and Baltimore.

There are 6,101 students currently in OASR’s Prospective Student Database. Contact Robin Dreizler if
your program wishes to use this database for program recruitment.

OASR’s high school contact listserv has approximately 413 high school counselors and administrators
and was updated for Fall 2013. If you would like information regarding how to market your program or
services by accessing this listserv, please contact Robin Dreizler or Julieta Ortiz.

The Summer and Fall 2014 admissions application is now available.

February 2014. The front counter financial aid assistants are also meeting/training as well.

Financial Aid second Pell disbursement update: we have disbursed to 4,800 students.
Assessment/Testing

New Enhancements were made to the Accuplacer Platform; the good news is that one of the
enhancements allows students to access their own scores and print them out themselves!!

The ISR (Individual Student Report) can be accessed through an email link or by scanning the Quick
Response (QR) code from their Smartphone.

302 students were tested in October (46 students more than September).



Working on developing an online appointment system for the Chemistry Placement Test.
Graduation Initiative

November 1 - Great Teacher Conference: Math faculty participated in professional development
Graduation Initiative Math Learning Teams for Student Success. The Workshop topics included the
following:
o Practice rational analysis of educational problems and find realistic, creative approaches to
their solutions.
o Cause educators to venture beyond the limits of their own specializations in search of
transferable ideas and the universals of education.
o Stimulate exchange of information and ideas within the community college movement by
building an expanding network of communication.
As a result of faculty participating in the Seminar, they will have learned how to increase contact with
students, awareness of student needs, and view teaching from new perspectives.
