This unit standard is for people new to the leather industry or
those wishing to develop their technical skills in leather
manufacture.
People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate
knowledge of: miscellaneous tanning agents used in leather
manufacture; mechanisms of miscellaneous tannages;
miscellaneous tannage practices; and miscellaneous tanned
leather characteristics.

Mechanisms of miscellaneous tannages are described in terms of the
interaction of the reagent with the skin system.
