This unit standard is for people new to the leather industry or
those wishing to develop their technical skills in leather
manufacture.
People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate
knowledge of physical testing used on leather; and describe the
effects on tannery processes and product of failure to meet
physical testing requirements.

Consequences of failure to meet requirements of physical testing are described
in terms of specified tests applied at specified process stages and potential
impact on the tannery and customer.
