Workplace procedures refer to the verbal or documented procedures for performing activities including health and safety, operational, environmental and quality management requirements. They refer to manuals, manufacturer's specification, codes of practice, or policy statements. 2 Performance of the elements must comply with Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Prepare for long period maintenance of a carpet tufting machine. Evidence requirements 1.1 The importance of the long period maintenance of tufting machines is explained in terms of its impact on production. 1.2 Sections of the machine and components requiring maintenance, and the nature of the maintenance required are identified and described in accordance with workplace procedures. Range 1.3 lubrication, replacement. Machine parts, consumables and tools required to perform required maintenance are specified. Outcome 2 Carry out maintenance on a carpet tufting machine machine. Evidence requirements 2.1 Maintenance of tufting components is completed in accordance with long period maintenance schedules and workplace procedures. Range 2.2 check, adjust, replace. Machine adjustments are completed in accordance with machine operating manual. Range stitch rate, pile height. 2.3 The machine is operated in accordance with workplace procedures to verify it is running correctly. 2.4 Maintenance records for the machine are updated in accordance with workplace procedures.
