Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: check
documentation and confirm requirements for the job are

slitting, and use auxiliary equipment.

Explanatory notes
1
All workplace practices must meet any applicable and recognised codes of practice,
and documented workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures for
personal, product, workplace health, safety, and environmental matters, and the
obligations required under current law including the Health and Safety in Employment
Act 1992, Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, Resource
Management Act 1991, Privacy Act 1993 and their subsequent amendments.

Evidence requirements
1.1
Job documentation is checked to ensure that all specifications for the process
being undertaken are complete and any discrepancies are reported in
accordance with workplace practices.

Outcome 2
Draw up lay sheets for portrait and landscape work up to sixteen pages.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Lay sheets are described and their effect on portrait and landscape pages is
explained.
2.2
Lay sheets are drawn to ensure that the job fits on the sheet size.
Range
work and turn, work and tumble, self backer and sheetwork up to
sixteen pages.
2.3
Bleeds, trims, folds and laps are applied to lay sheets ensuring that the job
requirements are met.
2.4
The importance of grain direction when drawing lay sheets is explained.

Machine fold, including roll folds and slitting, and use auxiliary equipment.

Evidence requirements
3.1
Work is folded using a minimum of three plates in the first unit ensuring that
safety requirements for the machine and workplace are followed.
3.2
2 up work is folded and slit using slitters ensuring that folds are sharp and free
of creasing and marking.
3.3
Auxiliary equipment is set up and used to meet the requirements of the job
specifications.
