This unit standard covers the installation of basic telephones
and facsimile machines in domestic premises.
People credited with this unit standard are able to:

select residential telephone and facsimile equipment;

install residential telephone and facsimile equipment; and

commission residential telephone and facsimile
equipment.

Definitions
Enterprise practice – those practices and procedures that have been promulgated by
the company or enterprise for use by their employees.
Industry practice – those practices, which competent practitioners within the industry
recognise as current industry best practice.
Residential telephone services – those typically found providing analogue services in
domestic premises.

complies with electrical regulations and industry practice.

Installation meets customer requirements in terms of facilities catered for,
tidiness, quoted price.

Installation is in accordance with occupational safety and health regulations and
industry safe working practices.
