People credited with this unit standard are able to: produce the sign face; manufacture the case; and illuminate the sign. For this unit standard the following standard also applies – AS/NZS 3832:1998 Electrical installations – Cold-cathode illumination systems. 2 Reference to company policy means any policies, procedures, and requirements of the company involved, and the ethical codes of relevant professional management. Outcomes and evidence requirements This unit standard is Produce the sign face. expiring Outcome 1 Evidence requirements 1.1 Layout is prepared to job specifications. 1.2 Substrate is prepared for coating system to comply with job specifications. Range includes but is not limited to – mask and spray, vinyl. 1.3 Layout is transferred to substrate to job specifications. 1.4 Colours are applied to substrate to job specifications. 1.5 Face of substrate is clean and free of oversprayed colour. 1.6 Spraying is completed to job specifications. Evidence requirements 2.1 Materials selected comply with job specifications. 2.2 Case construction complies with job specifications. Range 2.3 includes but is not limited to – measurements, joins, design. Paint system used complies with job specifications. Range includes but is not limited to – powder coating, spray painting, colour matching. Outcome 3 Illuminate the sign. Evidence requirements 3.1 Wiring is completed to comply with AS/NZS 3832 and Electricity Regulations. 3.2 Transformers are securely mounted according to specifications. 3.3 Isolation switch is installed to comply with electrical safety standards. 3.4 Illuminated sign is operational and meets all safety regulations. 3.5 Work area clean-up is completed and all tools, equipment and materials are cleaned and stored according to company policy.
