This unit standard is intended to provide the opportunity
for people to be assessed and awarded credit for their
competence in assisting experienced social service
workers to raise funds for a social service project.

This unit standard may be assessed on the basis of
evidence of demonstrated performance in the work
place, or through the use of simulated work place
situations that closely approximate the performance
required in workplace settings.
Elements and Performance Criteria
element 1
Contribute to the preparation of a draft funding proposal for a social service project.
performance criteria
1.1
Contributions address the identification and definition of the scope of the
project.
Range:
1.2
scope of the project may include but is not limited to - kaupapa or
mission statement; aims and objectives of the group or service
provider promoting the project; aims and objectives of the project;
time line; personnel involved; funding and other resources
required for the project.
Evidence is required of three.
Contributions to preparation of the budget for the project are made in terms of
the costs of the identified scope of the project.

Contributions to preparation of the draft proposal are made in accordance with
the scope of the project, proposed budget, and background information that
supports the project.

Contribute to the selection of potential funding sources.
performance criteria
2.1
Contributions address identification of funding options for the project in terms of
the draft proposal.
Range:
funding options may include but are not limited to - grant, bequest,
contract for services, sponsorship, partnership between iwi and
the Crown.
2.2
Contributions to the investigation of funding options address identification of
potential sources of funding, their eligibility criteria, and funding process.
2.3
Contributions focus on matching potential sources of funding to the draft
proposal and address the selection of sources of funding for application in terms
of the draft proposal, eligibility criteria, and funding process.

Contributions to the application or funding proposal address all aspects of the
project.
Range:
3.2
Contributions to drafting of the application or funding proposal address
identification and recording of all relevant aspects of the application or funding
proposal.

of the funding and other resources sought from the funding
source; eligibility criteria of the funding source; advantages and
benefits of the project; advantages or benefits for the funding
source being associated with the project; referees’ statements;
report on spending of any previous funding from the funding
source.
Evidence is required of two.
Contributions to drafting of the application or funding proposal maintain the
integrity and focus of the project.

3.4
Contributions to the presentation of the application or funding proposal meet all
of the requirements of the funding process of the selected funding source(s).
Range:

content, mode of presentation, submitted within the time line,
presentation accuracy in terms of the proposal.
