NZQA Expiring unit standard 14445 version 4 Page 1 of 3 Title Maintain rooms for functions in a commercial hospitality environment Level 3 Credits Purpose 3 This unit standard is for people who are working in the functions area of a commercial hospitality environment, preparing facilities, rooms, and equipment for presentations, workshops, and other customer functions. People credited with this unit standard are able to prepare, service, and clear function rooms in a commercial hospitality environment. Classification Hospitality > Food and Beverage Service Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Definition Establishment requirements – any policy, procedure, or agreed requirement, either written or oral, made known to the candidate prior to assessment against this unit standard. 2 Legislation to be complied with includes but is not limited to – the Innkeepers Act 1962, Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Privacy Act 1993. 3 This unit standard must be assessed in a realistic workplace environment. The candidate must be under realistic time pressures, use relevant commercial equipment, and have realistic customer/staff ratios. Examples for each sector can be found in AMAP 0112. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Prepare and service function rooms in a commercial hospitality environment. Evidence requirements 1.1 Environmental control systems are checked for operation and are set to customer and establishment requirements. Range 1.4 table items may include but are not limited to – table coverings, glassware, iced water, stationery, decorative items, sweets. Presentation equipment is checked for operation, and positioned in accordance with customer and establishment requirements. Range equipment may include – overhead projector, whiteboard, flip chart, audio-visual. 1.5 Electrical extension leads and other potential hazards are secured and covered in accordance with establishment requirements and legislation. 1.6 Function room is made clean, tidy, and ready for customer use in accordance with customer and establishment requirements. 1.7 Function items are checked and replenished, when appropriate, throughout function in accordance with customer and establishment requirements. Outcome 2 Clear function rooms in a commercial hospitality environment. Evidence requirements 2.1 Furniture is cleaned, and arranged ready for next user or stored, in accordance with establishment requirements. 2.2 Table items and presentation materials are stored, returned, or disposed of, in accordance with establishment requirements. 2.3 Environmental control systems are made ready for next user in accordance with establishment requirements. 2.4 Function room is left clean, tidy, and secure from unauthorised access in accordance with establishment requirements.
