Range: 1.2 unwaxed, delaminated, damaged and loose equipment and bindings, base damage, structural damage. Maintenance options are identified according to company procedures. element 2 Maintain ski and snowboard bindings and boots. performance criteria 2.1 Bindings are cleaned according to manufacturers' recommendations. 2.2 Ski binding release mechanism system and safety features are inspected, and adjustments made to ensure that boot and binding function according to DIN standards. 2.3 Snowboard binding system is inspected and adjustments made to ensure that boot and binding function according to manufacturer’s specifications. 2.4 Boots are maintained. Range: may include – buckles, laces; liner, soles, and shell checked for wear; inserts or padding replaced. Range: base repair, base grind, edge sharpen and tune, wax. element 4 Operate and maintain workshop tools and machinery. performance criteria 4.1 Workshop tools and machinery are identified and described in terms of their purpose and use. Range: 4.2 tools may include but are not limited to – screw drivers, pliers, vice grips, wire cutters, hammers, chisels, crescents, taps, dremels, scrapers, files, hacksaws, tube cutters, power tools, air operated drills and screw extractors; machinery may include but is not limited to – stone grinder, belt grinder, edge grinder, waxing belt, manual wax machine, P-tex gun, hot waxer, extruding repair gun, air tools and compressor. Pre-operation checks of workshop tools and machinery are completed in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and workplace procedures. Range: checks may include but are not limited to – cleaning machinery and filters, fluid and lubrication levels, stones and belts run freely, air flow, safety screens and guard, lubrication points. 4.3 Workplace procedures for the maintenance and repair of worn, unsafe or faulty machinery or equipment are explained. 4.4 Workshop machinery and equipment are set up, adjusted and operated according to manufacturers' specifications and to operating instructions. Range: 4.6 may include but is not limited to – ear muffs, eye glasses, gloves, aprons, fire extinguishers. Gases, flammable liquids, and chemicals are stored and used according to safe workplace practices as required under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. Range: may include – cleaning solutions, gas cartridges, lighters. 4.7 Workplace tools and machinery are stored after use, according to workplace procedures. 4.8 Servicing records are completed according to workplace procedures.
