The Hospitality Standards Institute has revised and rolled over the unit standard listed
above.
Date new versions published
September 2010
Planned review date
December 2015
Reason for the revision
This unit standard has been revised and rolled over to differentiate it from the newlydeveloped unit standard 26369, Manage a quick service restaurant. The types of
management roles in quick service restaurants vary across the different brands however,
there is general agreement that staff responsible for the day-to-day running of a restaurant
require knowledge and skills that are different from those required by someone who has
manager or regional management responsibilities. Changes have been made to the focus
of the unit standard to clarify the differences which were agreed with the main
stakeholders in April 2010.
Main changes resulting from the revision
 The title was amended to better reflect the outcomes of the unit standard.
 The purpose statement was amended to reflect changes to the outcomes.
 The explanatory notes were updated to clarify the definition of establishment
requirements.
 Outcomes and evidence requirements were updated to clarify the difference with unit
standard 26239.
 The unit standard was reclassified in the Hospitality Management domain to better
reflect its outcome.
