Exercise 11-G: Team-Based Negotiation: Newton School Dispute
In this simulation, you will play a member of either a school board or teachers’ association bargaining team. You and the
other members of your team, and the members of the other team, are nego tiators representing constituencies. You will
deal with a complex mix of bargaining issues; these issues have differing preference functions for each side. Finally, you
will subject to a variety of pressures during the negotiation.
Your instructor will be giving you additional information prior to the negotiation. You will meet with members of your
bargaining team, determine your objectives and strategy, and prepare your initial offer.
After the negotiation, you will be given a list of discussion question s to consider individually and then discuss in your
negotiating team.
