Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Manager of the Learning Management System (LMS) for Judicial Studies’ (JS) Justice Management Program (JMP) is responsible for the installation, maintenance and development of all online courses in the LMS for students and faculty. Additional duties include training and mentoring of all program faculty on online course development methods, skills and practices; assisting in student advisement (professional project, online projects); co-teaching online courses in academic research and online training modules; and, providing all program technical support including maintaining the JMP informational website and assisting faculty, staff and students in the JS Program. The position reports to the Director, Grant Sawyer Center and Judicial Studies. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information). 60% - Learning Management System Maintenance Maintain and update the Justice Management’s Moodle LMS installation, software and web hosting Generate and maintain new LMS apps, assessment reports (Program Tracking, Semester Tracker, Applicants Tracker, Enrollment Report, Committee Report, Professional Project and Thesis Report) and tools to aid JS staff and University Administration and faculty in day-to-day program operations (usage of system, program review) Maintain all past and current JM online courses Input and maintain current student information in the LMS Maintain synchronization of online course enrollments and information with the University’s MyNevada system and Content Management System (CMS) Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for faculty and students using the LMS 20% - Faculty Mentoring and Teaching Assist and mentor program faculty in designing, developing and maintaining individual online courses using best practices for online course development Coordinate online textbook purchases and instructor desk copies Co-teach courses in online academic research and online training module development 10% - Student Support Provide technical support for Justice Management and Judicial Studies faculty and students Assist with JMP student advisement and program progress Advise JMP students on implementing online-based training programs Maintain student listserv for information dissemination 10% - Program Development and Cooperating Institutions Participate in national conferences, showcasing the Justice Management program’s online course development and future student recruitment Advise and assist with cooperating institutions (National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, National Judicial College, National Juvenile Court Services Association, The National Center for State Courts’ Institute of Court Management, The American Probation and Parole Association, The American Correctional Association, The Child Welfare League of America) in developing online content for use in Justice Management courses Maintain the Justice Management Program information website Position Description – Manager, Learning Management System Page 3 3. Level of Freedom: The Manager has autonomy in making decisions regarding LMS development, but consults with the Director on new course and curriculum design and additions to the program. The position consults with the Program Officer on budget changes or purchases. Impact: The online master degree is JM Program’s core objective; therefore, decisions and recommendations may cause negative or positive outcomes which will affect successful matriculation of students and the reputation of the program as well as the College of Liberal Arts and the University. 4.
