A NEW TRANSLATION OF THE ROMAN MISSAL
The way Catholics celebrate the
Eucharist follows a standard form.
We call this the Order of Mass. It
is comprised of 4 main parts: The
Introductory Rites, the Liturgy of
the Word, the Liturgy of the
Eucharist, and the Concluding
Rites. Our worship is one great
dialogue, namely that God speaks to us and we speak to
God. This is reflected in the many prayers and
responses spoken by the priest and the people. Our
prayers are not spontaneous, but have been given to us
from many sources through the generations. They are
collected together in the Sacramentary or Roman
Missal. Each prayer text conveys aspects of the great
mystery of faith that we celebrate.
rd
In 2000, blessed John Paul II issued a 3 Edition of the
Roman Missal based on the renewal of the sacred
liturgy called for by the bishops during the Second
Vatican Council. Originally produced in Latin, the
texts have been translated into English using a careful
method to preserve, as much as possible, the full
meaning of the text. On the first Sunday of Advent
2011, we will begin to use this new translation of the
Roman Missal. The prayers and acclamations will
sound different from the ones we now employ.
Therefore, we will need to learn the revised translations
of the parts of the Mass. In September, we will begin
to introduce these new translations. Further reflection
on the parts of the Mass and the meaning of the texts
will occur from January to June 2012. For more

POPE’S 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF ORDINATION –
JUNE 29
Pope Benedict XVI will
celebrate
his
60th
anniversary of Ordination to
the Priesthood on June 29,
2011, the Solemnity of
Saints Peter and Paul. In
honour of this milestone, the
Vatican Congregation for
Clergy
suggested
that
Catholic clergy and faithful
participate in 60 hours of
Eucharistic Adoration with the intention of praying for
the sanctification of the clergy and for the gift of new
and holy vocations to the priesthood.
There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at
St. Anne’s Church on Wednesday, June 29, after the
evening Mass, from 7:30 p.m. until 12 Midnight.
There will also be Exposition immediately after the
9:15 a.m. Mass and the 7:00 p.m. Mass on Friday,
July 1, 2011, which is the First Friday of July. You are
certainly encouraged to visit the Blessed Sacrament at
other times outside the periods of Exposition if you
wish to complete your 60 hours of Adoration.

CONFIRMATION
Please note that we began
a
new
process
for
Confirmation preparation.
This program is for those
who will be starting Grade
8 in September 2011 or those who have
missed preparation and are 13 to 16 years
of age.
If your child attends a public or private
school, you must pick up a registration
form in the church office immediately.
This registration form (with a cover letter)
has already gone out to our seven parish
schools. If your grade 7 child did not bring
home a form, pick one up in the church
office.
Please note that your child’s registration
form must be returned to the church office
no later than 7:00 p.m. on Friday,
June 17, 2011 with a photocopy of the
child’s Baptismal Certificate and the
registration fee.
It is critical for you to know that to be hired to
teach in any Catholic School Board in Ontario as
part of your application for employment, there
must be a letter of reference from your pastor. If
you, or if your adult child, are planning to apply to
teach in a Catholic School, contact with the pastor
before Thanksgiving is highly recommended.
Please plan to have a conversation with your
pastor early in the process and you will avoid
disappointment and stress at a time when
applications are to be submitted.
