We will begin our learning of the American Revolution

or so. Students will learn about the building of our
nation and about important people such as: George
Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Our test is this
Thursday the 24th**
These next few weeks, we as a class will focus on
writing personal narratives. We will focus on the writing
process, and the necessary steps we as writers need
to take for our writing to be clear and strong (Prewriting, drafting, editing/peer editing, final drafts and
publishing). Our Final Narrative Essay will be due
around the end of September.
Math
Our focus in math will still be focused around Module 2,
Fractions. Students will work on: locating fractions on a
number line, converting from a mixed number to an
improper fraction, equivalent fractions, and practicing
their fact fluency. Students will generate discussion,
use manipulatives and rally coach to further their
understanding.
Literacy
We are working on reading as much as possible. We
are working on exploring ourselves as readers and
activating our schema as much as possible to make
connections to the stories we hear and read.
Students will focus on finding books they enjoy to read,
and via interactive read–a-louds, students will learn
skills to grow as a reader. (We will read: My Life In Dog
Years, Old Henry, The Hard Times Jar, and A Day’s Work).
*Soon I will assess each student’s reading level.
Students will begin working on word sorts to strengthen
their spelling abilities via Words Their Way curriculum.
We as a class will continue our grammar instructionthis will make their writing stronger and clearer.
Science
In science we are working within our Life Science book.
Students will continue classifying living things,
specifically animals- invertebrates and vertebrates. Up
next will be working on chapter 2, ecosystems.
**Our Science Test will be Tuesday the 22nd**
