POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Departmental Web Site Developer CATEGORY: Classified Staff FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt GRADE: C (Technology Support) JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the management of the day-to-day operation of the departmental web site including the transfer, testing, creation and updating of web content and material. Act as a technical resource person. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 40 1. Develop, research, layout, write/edit new sections/features for the site’s Web pages (including graphics and multimedia) within the delineated guidelines and templates established by the District’s policy and procedure. 2. Identifies methods and procedures for regular submission of content-based information 30 3. May provide training/workshops for faculty/staff on Web page content, development, and other Web technologies. 20 4. Assist in total quality management of the departmental web site, including currency, accuracy, consistency, ease of use, and access security. 5 5. May identify, evaluate, and recommend web tools and technologies. 5 REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Dean of Nursing SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides work direction to assigned staff. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Proficient PC operation skills; demonstrated ability in developing and publishing web pages optimized for Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers utilizing current and District endorsed HTML editors and authoring tools; demonstrated ability using graphic design/paint programs and HTML Conversion tools; basic understanding of Windows or other platforms; excellent presentation skills; ability to work independently as well as collaboratively; and ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty and district staff. Software Used: A variety of word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software in addition to web language programs (HTML, Java, and SQL, etc.) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with occasional distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
