JOB SUMMARY: Provide technical and administrative functions to the Oracle Databases and operating
systems. Administrate all upgrades/patches to the District’s system module and maintain version upgrades.

1.
Create and deploy Oracle Databases; install and upgrade Oracle Database
Software; work on disaster recovery and performance tuning. Act as a technical
reference for Oracle Database systems and assist users.

Evaluate, specify, manage, install and upgrade Unix Operating System
Hardware/Software. Monitors and takes appropriate action to maintain integrity
of databases including security issues and standards, along with referential
integrity checking and multiple access schemes.

3.
Install and upgrade the District’s Administrative Software and integrate third party
packages. Monitors the database and optimizes database performance and use of
resources, including selecting optimal physical implementation of databases.

4.
Monitors and manages database backups when warranted, database restorations,
and porting of databases, system performance evaluations. Perform database
capacity planning and processing requirements.

Consults with and coordinates work activities with other sections. Work with
application developers to insure integration at the database level.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.

Skills/Abilities:
 Skill set criteria includes Oracle 9i, 10i, &11i on various UNIX and Windows
platforms.
 Knowledge of Oracle Application Server (OAS: Oracle 9iAS, 10iAS).
 Knowledge of performance tools on Oracle.
2.
Equipment Used: Personal computer, HP UNIX Alpha 4100/ES45 servers, HP-UX Itanium
servers, Windows servers.
3.
Software Used: SQL using Oracle 9i, 10i, 11i on UNIX and Windows servers. Shell
scripting on UNIX and Windows. Oracle Development Suite. Microsoft Office Professional
Suite.
