JOB SUMMARY: Manages the day-to-day activities of the District’s Workers’ Compensation Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage the day-to-day activities of the District’s Workers’ Compensation
Program; responsible for filing time sensitive forms to our Third-Party
Administrator (TPA); assist injured employees in the claims process; work with
supervisors, Human Resources, and Payroll to get employees back to work
promptly and safely.

Establish, maintain, and audit records/files; utilize HRIS System to verify
employment, salaries and employee information for filing workers’ compensation
claims; review work status reports, administer pay adjustments, coordinate FMLA,
investigate and process claims; work with TPA to manage large loss time claims;
arrange for modified duty and functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) for injured
worker.

Serve as liaison between the injured employee and the College’s TPA, other
divisions, departments, and outside agencies; negotiate and resolve sensitive and
controversial issues; maintain and exchange information with internal and external
departments or agencies to explain policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and
guidelines concerning workers’ compensation; ensure organizational compliance
to all federal, state, and local laws for the District’s Workers’ Compensation
Program.

Develop, present, and promote training that informs employees and reduces costs
associated with workplace injuries; attend and participate in professional and
group meetings, stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of workers’
compensation administration.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide work direction to assigned staff.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: 60 credit hours.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years directly related experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and insurable by
the district’s auto liability insurance carrier.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.
Skills/Abilities:
Experience and ability to apply knowledge of federal, state and local health and
safety regulations;
Knowledge of Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation
(TDI-DWC) rules and regulations;
Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, EEO, and Return-to-Work programs;
Must have understanding of investigative techniques and Root Cause Analysis
(RCA) for Workers’ Compensation claims;
Must have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
Must maintain confidentiality of work related information and materials;
Effective time management and organizational skills.

Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with a general office
environment (copier, telephone, fax, etc.)

Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation
software.

depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
