POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Coordinator SBDC Training Coordinator Exempt CATEGORY: Professional GRADE: D JOB SUMMARY: Evaluate business and economic development needs; plan, assess, design, coordinate and implement the development of the educational programs and training activities that meet the needs of the small business community served by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 1. Evaluate business and economic development needs; plan, design, create coordinate, assess, implement and evaluate specialized education programs and training support services to meet the needs of the small business community and special focus groups in the service delivery area; plan, develop, maintain and update training program schedules, develop semester class schedules and administer registration activities; prepare Continuing Education (CE) semester schedules and coordinate with CE District Office; assist in the development or revision of new Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM) programs; recommend the adoption of instruction material and maintain inventory supply of materials for classroom use. 30% 2. Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote SBDC educational programs and services; market, design, and implement promotional materials for public service announcements, media and online advertising to include the development and maintenance of the SBDC Website and program’s enewsletter; serve as liaison and effectively communicate the objectives of the SBDC programs as it relates to staff, faculty, community partners, higher education institutions and government entities. 20% 3. Recruit part-time faculty, independent contractors and guest speakers to provide instructional services. Plan, develop, maintain and update training program schedules, and existing course instructional materials. Conduct training and outreach presentations. 10% 4. Ascertain if existing Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM) inventory supports local Small Business Development instruction needs and prepare supporting documentation to enable Banner registration. 10% 5. Identify strategic gap and evaluate short term and long term strategic planning. Ensure the successful implementation of the SDBC program through the use of state and federal guidelines. 10% 6. Coordinate student registrations, classroom and conference facilities and instructional equipment; maintain accurate records and prepare periodic reports to ensure all program requirements are met. 10% 7. EXPERIENCE: Six (6) Years related experience in field. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Must possess good skills in managing, coordinating, and prioritizing multiple tasks; Excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills; Strong presentations skills and public speaking; Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, QuickBooks, and desktop publishing; Experience in curriculum development and writing skills; Spanish language skills helpful. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer (desktop and laptop); LAN server, projection equipment, digital camera, copy and fax machine, calculator, and other equipment associated with an office and classroom environment. 3. Software Used: Microsoft XP Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Publisher), Internet Explorer, Adobe Acrobat Professional, QuickBooks Pro, Constant Contact, Softshare WebCATS (database client tracking system).
