JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the full range of circulation functions using an automated library
system. Assists Public Service Supervisor with supervising, scheduling and training part-time staff and
compiling statistics and generating reports.

1.
Assist Public Service Supervisor with the supervision of the part-time and work
study staff. Responsible for lending/borrowing/reserve and resource sharing
functions. Provide general library information and assistance services; handle
library user concerns and problems, equipment maintenance and operation,
shelving/shelf maintenance, card issuance etc. Assist Public Service Supervisor
with the coordination of security and maintenance of the library and other tasks as
assigned.

Utilize automated library system to perform circulation functions; examine and
process reserves/holds/transfers; shelving, retrieving, packaging and mailing
materials; request materials from other locations, as needed.

Assist Public Service Supervisor with the training and coordination of the work
schedules of work-study students and/or part-time staff and work assignments.
Provide feedback to supervisor on part-time and work study job performance.
Provide basic guidance and/or instructions to library users in accessing the
internet, online catalog and databases and other computer functions.

4.
Input orders, receive, check, document, mend and distribute library materials;
follow up on subscriptions; may coordinate purchase orders and invoices; assist
with library inventory.

Assist with library programming; compile and maintain statistics; prepare and
submit reports, as requested; update various library material lists and record data.
Prepare correspondence/memos as needed; maintain files.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Associate’s degree.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years related experience.

Equipment Used: Personal Computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment
associated with an office and a library environment.

Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and
presentation software in addition to Banner and library integrated systems.
