Evening Courses Syllabus
Turkish Advanced
Turkish Level 4+
Prerequisite for entry
Successful completion of Turkish Levels 1 to 4 at UCL Language Centre or equivalent
elsewhere (upon interview with tutor).
An advance level is required.
Term duration
10 x 2-hour classes.
Aims and Objectives
The aim of the course is to enable students who have an advanced knowledge of Turkish
to acquire a better command and fluency in the language. Students will be able to follow
discussions and debates on current issues and write essays as well as communicate in all
situations using complex and linguistically more accurate structures. Authentic texts will be
studied for further development of cultural awareness through analysis and cross-reading.

Recognising and using various registers.
Development of reading skills of complex analytical and critical discourse.
Ability to interact any kind of debate.
Ability to summarise a listening exercise and answer the debate questions.
