Turkish Post-Advanced
Turkish Level 5+
Prerequisite for entry
Successful completion of Turkish syllabus level 5 at UCL Language Centre or equivalent
elsewhere (upon interview with tutor).
A post advance level of Turkish is required.
Term duration
10 x 2-hour classes.
Aims and Objectives
The aim of the course is to enable students to improve their linguistic skills through
authentic texts and variety of activities (debates, tasks, presentations, projects etc.) to
become competent in Turkish language. Various transferable skills will be covered.
Functions

In this course students will have the chance to revise and perfect all previously
studied functions.
Course Content: Main topics/themes to be covered
-
As in level 5, the content of this course will be based around a reflection on the
nature of contemporary society and current affairs. Since the students in this
course will be having a full command of the language, the syllabus will remain
flexible and various topics may be studied, depending on their interests.
(contemporary literary extracts, science, visual arts, arts and technology, art and
trade exhibitions, corporate life)

Linguistic Structures/ Phonetics

Recognising/understanding various register/accents.
Recognising/understanding any kind of discourse.
Grammar
Perfecting all the grammar points previously studied according to students’ needs
(tenses, participles, passive, reflective clauses, etc.).

Authentic material from various sources (Turkish newspapers or magazines,
recent publications, Turkish television programs, short videos and films etc…)
