The Local Controller is an embedded device located within the
Lighting Control Panel that controls all DALI, digital/analog and shade devices connected to the panel. The Local Controller includes an integrated UPS that ensures continued operation during loss of power and transition to backup power generator.
The Local Controller hosts the Zone Control Application (ZCA), the
Master Control Application (MCA) and the interfaces required to communicate with the different device types connected to it:
The Zone Control Application (ZCA) manages the light level based on the control strategy defined by the user based on schedule, daylight level, occupancy status and manual commands sent via a keypad/wallstation.
The Master Control Application (MCA) allows users to configure and manage the system via a web-based user interface. The MCA is only enabled on the standalone local controller. The MCA is disabled in a networked local controller topology.
The DALI Interface manages the communication with the DALI devices on the DALI Bus. The DALI Buses are terminated at the DALI cards contained within the DALI Bus Chassis. The
DALI cards communicate with the local controller via the DALI
Communication card which is also contained within the DALI Bus
Chassis. Please refer to the DALI Bus Chassis Specification for more information.
The Modbus TCP interface manages the communication with the low voltage devices. The low voltage devices are terminated at the digital and analog IO cards contained within the LightingControl Panels. The digital and analog IO cards communicate with the local controller via the Modbus Coupler installed within the LCP.
The Shade interface manages the communication with the shades controllers supported by Fifth Light system. Please refer to the
Shades Specification for more information.
Rustproof, fanless, ventless chassis – Improves the life time of the local controller
Integrated Uninterruptible Power Supply with 30-60 minutes runtime – Reduces the loss of control period during power transition from utility power to backup power which typically results in 10-15 seconds of loss of power.
