NSSLHA Meeting Minutes March 4 & 5, 2014 1. Sign in and Membership dues a. If you did not get a pin toward the beginning of the semester, please see a board member after the meeting. 2. Apparel for Sale! a. No new t-shirt designs are being sold this semester; however, if you would like a “Watch your LanguagE” t-shirt, we still have extras available for purchase b. Polos (in two colors): $20 each c. Zip Up Sweatshirts: $30 each d. Lanyards: $5 e. Totes: $10 f. Please pick up an order form near the NSSLHA bulletin board. Orders are due next week—someone will be available during our usual meeting times (March 11 & 12). Also, place your order in the NSSLHA dropbox. 3. MSHA a. March 27-29, 2014 in Kalamazoo b. A great way to network, gain personal development, and meet other SLP/AuD students! c. If you would like to attend: i. Become a MSHA member. $30 by mail or online @ http://www.michiganspeechhearing.org/ ii. Register for MSHA Conference as a student. $20 by mail or online. iii. Since students gain admission to the conference for such a low price, you must volunteer for a slot of time. Fill out a volunteer application along with registering for the conference. d. If you would like to attend as part of our NSSLHA group, either in need of lodging, carpooling, etc, please sign up. The sign up sheet is posted on the NSSLHA bulletin board for those interested. Please let us know by Friday, March 14. 4. Speaker: Dr. Gordon Krainen a. Monday, March 10 @ 4PM (Location TBA) b. Dr. Krainen will be presenting on the University of Michigan Aphasia Program and the MSHA conference coming up in March. Also, possible volunteer opportunities will be discussed. 5. Job Opportunity a. An undergraduate part-time rehabilitation aide is wanted at Ann Arbor Rehabilitation Center. Please see the attached flyer for contact information 6. Scholarship Opportunity a. Cumberland Scholarship Opportunities is offering two scholarships for those interested in working with the bilingual population, as well as those interested in working with special needs.
