NSSLHA Meeting 2/18/13 NEXT MEETING ISNT UNTIL MARCH 11th and 12th Apparel • Online cart is now open through the 27th! https://ugpogo.undergroundshirts.com/groupIndex.php?cart_id=1916 • For sale from other members who ordered apparel last time that didn’t fit: o Medium, green Vneck-­‐ $13 o 2XL, women’s fleece-­‐ $36 • Available March 11th (Monday) • Pay when you get the apparel MSHA • First you need to become a MSHA member (if you aren’t already)-­‐ $30 • Second, register for the conference-­‐ $20 • Third, submit online student volunteer form o Last day to fill this form out for the reduced rate is March 10th Basketball Game • Social event this Saturday at noon • Meet at the convocation center at 11:45 so we can all go in as a group • Free for students, $10 for nonstudents unless we have at least 10 people • We are thinking about getting lunch afterwards if people want to • If you want to go but can’t find us, text or call Mel at 734-­‐223-­‐2956 • Wear your NSSLHA apparel! Yankee Candle • Sales have started • When you are finished selling, put the money and order form in the envelope the sale forms came in into the green box in Mrs. Kowalski’s office • Orders are due no later than Friday Elections • April 2nd and April 3rd during the meeting • If you would like to run for a position, it is best that you are at both of the meetings that week. If you can’t, please let us know so we can let the group know your information • It will be very informal. We will ask you to say what you have done with NSSLHA this school year and why you want to be an Eboard member • These positions are for the entire 2013-­‐2014 school year Coffee Tumblers • Active members will be getting one of these at the end of the semester • We are looking for designs to be submitted. Email them in if you have an idea by March 11th • Cannot be the Eastern logo, but can be the NSSLHA logo Fundraisers • Tuesday, March 19th at Tower Inn from 5-­‐10pm o There will be a sign in there like at Noodles and Mongolian BBQ o Bring a flyer which we will pass out at the meeting as well as email it to you. YOU MUST HAVE THE FLYER TO GET THE MONEY DONATED o They will give NSSLHA 20% of the money brought in o Before 6pm there is happy hour and half off appetizers o 2 raffles-­‐ we will be raffling off a NSSLHA bracelet and a water bottle so make sure to come if you want a chance to win! • Test games on your iphone or android through Eastern o We need at least 20 people to do it and we get $0.50 for every game tested o http://www.curios.me/signup/?group_id=481 • If you would like a NSSLHA Pen, let us know! o $10 per pen 2 more eboard position descriptions • Vice President o Helps the president or other members with anything they need o Helps respond to emails o Set up the speakers and the panels § Take input from the members o Would run the meeting if the president isn’t able to attend the meeting • Service Coordinator o Reach out to and maintain contact with individuals and organizations in the community in need of volunteers o Gather information on several volunteer opportunities and provide to members of NSSLHA (e.g. type of experience, requirements, orientation dates, etc.) o Facilitate Mentor Program o Lead by example – the Service Coordinator should be someone with a passion for volunteering and who can devote some time to volunteering themselves. o Qualities of a Service Coordinator: § Organized – keep track of dates, paperwork, contact information § Outgoing – don’t be afraid to reach out to people! Most people in the community do not know about our organization, so we need to show them who we are and how we can help them. § Leader – facilitate opportunities, represent NSSLHA out in community, be a point of contact for members and organizations § Other duties performed this year (not specific to position) – plan end-­‐of-­‐semester party, organize Winter bake sale, other fundraiser assistance
